Andy Whitfield, who starred as Spartacus in Starz’ series Spartacus: Blood and Sand died today in Sydney at the age of 39.
Whitfield officially left the series earlier this year, after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
After delaying production on season two in the hopes that Whitfield would be able to return, Starz announced that the role of Spartacus would be taken over by Liam McIntyre, for the show’s second season.
