Quicksilver Sprints Between The Avengers and X-Men

Evan+Peters+64th+Annual+Primetime+Emmy+Awards+JEwrCYA9Gz1lBryan Singer tweeted today that Evan Peters (American Horror Story) has joined the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past as the super-fast son of Magneto, Quicksilver.

What makes this news interesting is that Quicksilver has already been confirmed as one of two new characters (along with the Scarlet Witch) who will appear in The Avengers 2.

Before Marvel started making its own movies, they licensed some of their characters out to other studios, Sony taking Spider-Man, and Fox The X-Men and Fantastic Four.  That’s why those big-named characters didn’t show up in The Avengers.  So what’s up with Quicksilver? Continue reading

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Villain Revealed?

RonanTheAccuser3Rumors going around the net (originating on JoBlo) have it that the antagonist in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy film will be Ronan the Accuser.

Ronan is a law enforcement officer (working as judge, jury, and executioner a la Judge Dredd) for the Kree Empire, an alien race that is in perpetual war with the shape-shifting Skrull.

It was previously announced that Pushing Daisies‘ Lee Pace would be playing the film’s un-nammed villain.  Is this the role he’ll fill, or is there another villain yet to be named?

Raphael and April O’Neil Behind The Scenes of the New ‘Ninja Turtles’ Movie

Ninja Turtles Raphael and AprilThese behind the scenes pics from the set of the currently-in-production Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show April O’Neil (Megan Fox) speaking to Raphael (some guy, who cares?).  We know it’s Raph because April is holding a pair of sais.

Apparently, the turtles aren’t afraid of being seen by the general public in this incarnation of the franchise; unless they’re planning on adding a cartoon-style trench-coat to the computer generated turtle suit. Continue reading

Screen Shot 2013-05-20 at 12.47.50 PMA short behind-the-scenes clip of Matt Smith (the 11th Doctor) and David Tennant (the 10th) talking about sharing the same iconic role, and filming the 59th anniversary special.

They make some cryptic references to another character that’s involved in the special whom they can’t name; but if you’ve seen the seventh season finally, ‘The Name of the Doctor,’ you probably already know who it is. Continue reading

Blu Ray Review: John Carter

Disney

John Carter did poorly in theaters.  The funny thing is, the stories about it doing poorly were published well before the film came out; even before anyone had reviewed it.  The doomsday reports were based on polls, which found few people knew about or planned on seeing it.

So, the first thing most people knew about this movie was it was destined to fail.

Matt Smith will Return for Doctor Who’s Eighth

Screen Shot 2013-05-17 at 6.34.40 PMMatt Smith, who has held the role of the Doctor for three full seasons of Doctor Who (the fifth through the seventh) has finally confirmed that he’ll be back for season eight, which start filming around the end of year.

Many have speculated that he may leave the series in a dramatic fashion, either as part of the big 50th anniversary special (which guest stars the previous Doctor, David Tennant), or the Christmas special in December.

There were also persistent rumors that his replacement would be the series’ first female Doctor; but it looks like we’ll be waiting awhile for that.

‘Warehouse 13′ To End Next Season

Screen Shot 2013-05-17 at 5.49.14 AMSyFy has decided to cancel Warehouse 13, which is currently in the second half of its fourth season.

Luckily for fans (and uncharacteristically for SyFy), the show isn’t going to end unceremoniously.  It will return for a shortened, six episode fifth season next year to tie up the loose ends.
