Lupin The Third News

A new Lupin the 3rd TV series is set to premiere April 4th, 2012, in Japan.  Entitled Lupin III – Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna (Lupin the 3rd – The Woman Named Fujiko Mine), the new 13 episode series will star Lupin’s rival/sort-of-girlfriend, Fujiko Mine.

Dai Sato, writer for Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell SAC will also write for this series, while  Japanese jazz musician Naruyoshi Kikuchi will produce the music.  Takeshi Koike, director of Redline, will handle the character designs.  Sayo Yamamoto (who has mostly just been a storyboarder up to this point) will direct.

Lupin the 3rd Cover Art

Discotek / Eastern Star has posted the cover art for their upcoming release of Lupin the 3rd,The Complete First TV Series.

The 23 episode series, about an antihero thief and his eclectic gang, is set for release on June 26, 2012.

The second (and longest running, at 155 episodes) TV series was previously licensed by Geneon, who partially released it before going out of business.  Some of the many Lupin the 3rd movies have been released in North America by Eastern Star, Funimation, Geneon, and Animeigo.
