The story of Madoka comes to a close, at least until the movie sequel comes out. I hope that it’s as great as the TV series, but apparently, when hopes are fulfilled, terrible things happen.

‘Magical Girl’ shows fill the same role as their male counterparts, the ‘Giant Robot’ show. That is, the role of childhood fantasy fulfillment. In both cases, they involve an unremarkable child with no particular skills or talents having amazing powers gifted upon them. Essentially, it’s the same concept as we see in X-Men and Harry Potter.
