Marvel Studios has just cast Frank Grillo (End of Watch) as Crossbones (a.k.a. Brock Rumlow) in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Crossbones was the leader of a small-time street gang in New York who made it big after attending a ‘school for criminals’ run by the supervillain Taskmaster. He then worked briefly with the communist Red Scull before switching teams and joining the Nazi Red Scull (the one from the first Captain America movie). Of course, the movie will probably simplify his back-story somewhat.

When Joss Whedon was announced as the writer/director of The Avengers 2, it was also mentioned that he would be ‘involved’ in the development of a Marvel-Universe TV series for ABC.
Today we’ve learned that his involvement will actually be quite significant, as he will write and direct (schedule permitting) the pilot for SHIELD.
The upcoming Blu Ray release of The Avengers will include a 12 minute short film entitled Item 47.
This ‘One-Shot’ is far more complex and than the four minute, single-scene vignettes starring Agent Coulson that were include with Thor and Captain America. Continue reading
