It posits that abstract primitive art depicts (if you interpret it correctly) interactions between early humans and alien visitors. Director Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien) spoke to the Speakeasy blog about his upcoming return to science fiction, Prometheus.
The film started out as a prequel to Alien, but morphed during pre-production into an original story, though Scott says there is still a strand of Alien DNA in the new film. He notes that the last 8 minutes of the film evolve into, “a pretty good DNA of the ‘Alien’ one.”
