Avengers 2 Release Date

Marvel Studios has officially set a May 1st, 2015 release date for The Avengers 2, three years (minus three days) after the premiere of The Avengers.  It was previously announced that Joss Whedon would return to write and direct the sequel.

Between now and then, Marvel will release sequels to Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America; and introduce some new heroes to the Marvel Movie Universe with the film Guardians of the Galaxy.

Joss Whedon is also working on a Marvel Universe TV series for ABC, which may or may not come out before then.

Joss Whedon to Direct The Avengers 2

Disney announced during its investors conference call today that Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) would return to write and direct The Avengers sequel.  Not surprising, giving the first film’s success, but it’s nice to have confirmation.

Disney further stated that Whedon was ‘involved’ in the development of a TV series for ABC which would be set in the same Marvel movie universe as his film.  What exactly that series would consist of is still a mystery.

Item 47 Poster

Marvel has released a poster for its upcoming short film Item 47.  The 12 minute feature, which stars Lizzy Caplan, will be included as an extra on the Blu Ray of The Avengers.

Why a short film without independent distribution needs a poster, I don’t know.  Anyway, you can see it when The Avengers streets on September 25, 2012.
