Barrowman Not Asked To Participate in Doctor Who 50th

Screen Shot 2013-04-23 at 5.31.59 AMIn an interview with TV Line, John Barrowman seemingly squashed whatever lingering hopes fans may have had that his character, Captain Jack Harkness, would make a surprise appearance in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special.

Harkness, a pansexual time agent from the near future made his first appearance in series one of the reboot, joining the Doctor as a companion alongside Billie Piper (who is returning for the special), before being spun off into his own series, Torchwood, which ran for four series. Captain Jack to Return to ‘Doctor Who’?

Picture 1During an interview with the British morning show This Morning, John Barrowman said that talks to return his iconic character of Captain Jack Harkness to Doctor Who for the show’s 50th anniversary had just commenced  (see the video below).

He later backtracked on twitter, saying ‘Re 50th I didn’t say in what capacity or what medium so stay calm and carry on.’ Continue reading

Five minutes before John Barrowman’s Q&A panel at Fan Expo 2012 began, he poked his head through the curtain he was waiting behind and stuck his tongue out at the audience.  That pretty much set the tone for the next hour.

Barrowman had his fans in hysterics, showing just the theatricality and lack of restraint you’d expect from the man that plays Jack Harkness on the BBC’s Torchwood.  For instance, below you will find a clip of the story he told about the awkward lap dance he had received from a stripper while in Toronto.

Will There Be A Torchwood Season Five?

Torchwood: Miracle Day wasn’t exactly a breakout hit; but the CEO of Starz, the American cable channel which co-produced the franchise’s fourth series with the BBC, is saying that the network is open to a fifth outing.

Chris Albrecht told Multichannel News:

You know, Russell [T Davies] is so busy. Obviously, we’re in touch with the BBC all the time. They are our partners on [new shows] DaVinci’s Demons and Harem.

‘We told them, we stand by ready for any news, but I think it would be a while before Russell came back to Torchwood.’
