Amazon is apparently in negotiations with Sony Pictures to produce an original series based on the 2009 zombie-comedy film Zombieland. The series would stream on Amazon’s video service, which is available through its site and it’s Kindle tablet.
The film’s writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, would return to write and produce the proposed series, though we highly doubt that any of it’s cast, which includes Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson, would be willing to work for internet streaming money.
It’s interesting to note that Reese and Wernick originally developed Zombieland as a TV series for CBS (just think, it could have beat The Walking Dead to the punch. I wonder if anyone would have taken WD seriously if there was a zombie comedy on the air a few years prior). But it wasn’t meant to be, and the network passed on the project without filming a pilot, so the duo reformatted the movie we know today.
