One ‘Star Wars’ A Year, Starting in 2015

Screen Shot 2013-04-17 at 7.53.29 PMWe’ve been hearing rumors of this pretty much since the moment Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm was first announced, but now we have an official, on paper confirmation that the company plans to release one new Star Wars film every year, starting in 2015 with the J.J. Abrams’ directed ‘Episode VII.’

Disney Studios chief Alan Horn said during his presentation at CinemaCon today that ‘Episode 7’ would be followed the next year by a spinoff movie based on a character from the Star Wars universe, and the two lines (official trilogy and side stories movies) would alternate thereafter.
