Quicksilver Sprints Between The Avengers and X-Men

Evan+Peters+64th+Annual+Primetime+Emmy+Awards+JEwrCYA9Gz1lBryan Singer tweeted today that Evan Peters (American Horror Story) has joined the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past as the super-fast son of Magneto, Quicksilver.

What makes this news interesting is that Quicksilver has already been confirmed as one of two new characters (along with the Scarlet Witch) who will appear in The Avengers 2.

Before Marvel started making its own movies, they licensed some of their characters out to other studios, Sony taking Spider-Man, and Fox The X-Men and Fantastic Four.  That’s why those big-named characters didn’t show up in The Avengers.  So what’s up with Quicksilver?

Presumably, he’s considered a canonical character in both franchises, making him fair game for both studios.  However, since Fox has exclusive rights to both Magneto and the concept of mutants, the Quicksilver that we’ll see in The Avengers 2 is going to have a very different origin story.
