Jim Carrey ‘Cannot Support’ Kick Ass 2

movies_kick-ass-2_jim-carreyActor Jim Carry announced via twitter that he “cannot support [the] level of violence” in his upcoming film Kick Ass 2.

Of course, he had no problem with the violence while he was making the movie, or for the 18 months that he had the script.  Nor did he have a problem with the violence in the first film.

Anyway, he cites the Sandy Hook school shooting as the impetus for his change of heart, even though that happened seven months ago.

Jim Carrey is free to change his mind, and doesn’t have to actively flog something that he thinks is wrong; but maybe it would have been more professional to just call in sick during the press junket?  It’s had to sympathize with your principled decision when you twist into a self-promotional story.

Here is his quote:

I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.

My apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.

And yes, he spelled “Kick Ass’ wrong.
