‘The League of Extraordinary Gentleman’ Heads to TV

Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 4.00.42 AMFox has ordered a pilot for a TV series based on the comic book The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.  I’m guessing Fox is expecting ABC’s Agents of SHIELD to do well and want to get a copycat comic book team show in the works ASAP.

In 2003, the comic was adapted into a less-than-successful film starring Sean Connery.  The comic’s creator, Alan Moore hated the film; though to be fair, he seems to hate the entire concept of adapting his work into other mediums, so don’t expect much love for the series either.

The pilot’s script is being written by Michael Green, whose previous work includes the screenplay for the Green Lantern film and several episodes of the short-lived (though pretty good) TV series The River.   Green was also recently tapped to write the next Blade Runner.
