HBO Renews True Blood for Seventh Season

Screen Shot 2013-07-15 at 5.03.15 PMTrue Blood, which is currently five episodes into its sixth season, has just been renewed for a seventh.

The series, based on the novels by Charlaine Harris, was developed for TV by Alan Ball, but is now in the care of showrunner Brian Buckner, who will be sticking around for next year.

It’s notable that they didn’t announce this as the seventh ‘and final season.’  Of course, the show could tank next year, but at least it means that HBO is open to an eighth season.
