Campbell Confirms ‘Army of Darkness 2’?

Screen Shot 2013-10-22 at 5.57.05 AMDuring a panel at Wizard World Nashville Comic Con,  Bruce Campbell, star of the original Evil Dead trilogy, including its third instalment, Army of Darkness, answered a fan’s question about a long-rumored fourth with ‘yes.’  Sort of.

He’s quoted as saying:

“The last one was twenty-two years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I used to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here. Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be all right. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it …All right, sir, the answer is yes.”

A lot of websites are reporting this as an absolute confirmation, but it seems pretty vague to me.  Does Campbell mean that Army of Darkness 2 is in production, being written, or has secured financing; or that it’s something that he and Raimi plan to do ‘someday.’  Raimi has the cache to do pretty much any project he wants; and the recent remake/sequel to Evil Dead showed that there’s still like in the franchise, so if there ever was to be a new film in the Evil Dead series, now would definitely be the time.   But as with any movie project, until the cameras start rolling, you shouldn’t get your hopes up.
